Alan J Wilson will be retiring as Chief Executive Officer of MSIG Asia on 1 April 2022 and Clemens Philippi, MSIG Asia’s Chief Operating Officer, will be appointed to the position effective 1 April 2022. Wilson will support the transition process as Senior Advisor until early July 2022.
Wilson will however remain as a Director of MSIG Asia and an Executive Officer of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Japan) and Deputy Head of International Business Department. He will continue to sit on 7 other boards and will continue to be based in Singapore.
Wilson has been MSIG Asia’s CEO for 14 years, since joining the Group in early 2008. Under his leadership, the company has delivered consistent top- and bottom-line growth in Asia and expanded its network in the region to 14 markets. In April 2015, Wilson was also honoured with his appointment as the first foreign executive officer in Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Japan). He has also served as Chairman and/or a Director on the Boards or equivalent for 20 MSIG-related entities around the region.
An industry veteran with 43 years of experience, of which 40 years have been spent in Asia, Wilson has a sound executive management track record. He helped lead and navigate MSIG Asia in meeting its top line and profitability targets last year amidst the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Wilson’s consistent performance and drive, combined with his commitment to serving the best long-term interests of the company, have materially strengthened the company’s business in the region. He leaves a more agile and resilient company, well placed to win in this fast-changing, dynamic industry.
